Emotive Mind Control Headset(concept)

This mind controlled headset called the EPOC is an human computer interface. Using this device you can instruct your computer to perform tasks as you think of it. At first, you have to train the software for the device by thinking of different commands or kinds of action and movements you might want to carry out in a video game.

This will map your brain activity using medical technology. You can then play your game by just thinking - in a handsfree way.

D:Scribe pen

A designer has put pen to paper and created a concept fountain pen that allows users to write and send emails directly from a sheet of A4. Aside from fulfilling all your standard writing requirements, the D:Scribe pen’s designer Reuben Png also envisages it being able to recognise and capture text and drawings. Users would be able to capture and then transmit their poetry or masterpiece drawings over Bluetooth, simply by writing the recipient's name and then circling it.

The idea is that the data’s then sent to your mobile phone, from where users can choose how to pass it on, such as in email or text message format. An OLED display built into the pen also helps you keep track of the message's progress, after you've clicked on send. One potential hurdle is character recognition, and anyone who remembers Apple’s Newton MessagePad will know how problematic that can sometimes be. The pen’s storage capacity isn’t known, but let’s not forget that this pen is still a concept design.

Future Gadget Control through Human Brain Activity

The new technology, known as optical topography detects the changes in brain blood concentration and translates it into voltage signals that can be used to control the operation of electronics devices. During the demo, the user is required to wear a special fiber optic helmet with infra sensor that sense the blood change (reflection of brain activity) and then translate it to drive the movement of the electronics train.

By utilizing this technology, there are various useful applications that it can take advantages of. One of the examples is for the disabled to control the artificial limbs or operate electrical wheelchairs with mind thinking. However, there are some challenges that the researchers need to face before it can be implemented to the end product. The brain structure is so complicated that the detection mechanism really needs to be refined through many experimental and research before it can be precisely used for more complex operations.

Althouh the usage is very much restricted to medical field in current stage, but Hitachi expects it to be available in commercial market in near future.

Cell Phone in a Pen – The Cell Phone that Writes

As far as cell phone concepts go this cell phone pen, known merely at this juncture as ‘Design A’, is one of the most impressive we’ve come across in quite a while. Designed by an unknown individual working for an undisclosed company, the cell phone pen comes complete with a dot matrix display unit and inbuilt mini receiver and earpiece as well as Bluetooth connectivity. It also comes with a micro SD memory card slot – which would seem to indicate that the device may be either MP3 compatible or, at the very least, has the capacity for storage relating to other functions such as to-do lists, memos, etc. It’s certainly an interesting concept but, as small as it is – it measures a mere 8.7” in length.

Info Ring, Concept Gadget to Share Social Data

Information Ring is a product designed to exchange basic information with new people in the first meeting by shaking hands. In the hustle and bustle of today's modern life it is almost impossible to remember how many people you have met on a particular day. The job of this gadget is to give you names of each person along with their personal information such as email, address, phone number etc.
This ring will perform the function of sharing social contacts as soon as you shake hands with another person. The rings exchange the users' information and store it while the users are shaking hands. The more people met, the more information transferred. The other great feature of this gadget is that it does not require to be charged using an external power source because it uses the human body temperature as its main source of power.

Vibering

The concept of Vibering is based on helping people with hearing difficulties by vibration, the whole set consists of a wristwatch and two rings. How it works is quite simple and has been illustrated in the gallery below. The rings worn on either hands are used as sound detectors, detecting sound from either side of the person’s surrounding and environment. When sound is detected from a particular side, then it warns the user that something like a car may be behind /near them by vibrating.

The Vibering is also able to detect and translate a number of phrases to the wristwatch, so the watch will act as a ‘communicator’ for the user, for example if someone was calling their name, the Vibering would be able to alert them of this.

iBangle Puts The iPod On The Wrist

The iPod is already pretty forward looking in terms of design, but designer Gopinath Prasana decided to take things a little bit further with the iBangle concept. This iBangle design concept is a little bit daring as the design fits right on your wrist instead of clipping to your belt.Don’t let its loose look fool you, the iBangle won’t easily slip off like other “clip-on” MP3 players. Apparently, that tiny blue button that you see in the illustration somehow fills the blue area with air, so it fits snug, but hopefully not too snug.

This MP3 player comes in the form of a - you’ve guessed it, a bangle, and features a multi-touch track pad for you to control your playlist. Guess this is a fancy version of the iPod Shuffle since it lacks the physical real estate for a screen or projector to keep you entertained with movies, so only songs will have to do. Since everyone comes with different wrist sizes, the iBangle boasts a cushion within that inflates so that it is able to fit into just about any wrist snugly.

Digital Ruler

This is a wooden ruler but not on ordinary. It is a digital concept ruler which combines values of a traditional ruler with digital interface.

Working with this Digital Ruler would be good and easy if it would be marked with lines as it is not now. But think about that it starts its zero with your initial position, this feature is so cool.

tag : Soft-shell mobile phone

Flexible phones and images floating in a vase like object are just some of the cool new technologies shown on the NEC site. The tag softshell mobile phone looks like it can double as some sort of whip like weapon.

"tag” is a new, malleable, casual communicator. It is not only soft but also flexible, for example, it can be hung from a belt or wrapped around the user’s arm. Shape-memorizing material and multiple pressure sensors allow the phone to change its shape according to the mode. The user can also alternate the mode by changing the shape.

Bluetooth is now built in watches

There are two accessories that most people have and those two accessories have one common function. These two accessories are: the watch, and the cell phone. However, there are some watches that have the cell phones built in. The Fossil and Sony Ericsson companies have decided to combine these two accessories and make them work together. They have created this new gadget watch that has the Bluetooth technology built in. Having this watch you will not need to take your phone out of your pocket at all. Why? It is because of some features that this watch has.The MBW-100 gadget watch has a small LCD display and is Bluetooth enabled it has functions like Caller ID which will help you know who is calling you without taking your cell phone out. Besides, it will notify you if you get a SMS message. If you also have a Bluetooth hands free accessory you will not need to take your cell phone out of your pocket at all because you have everything you need on your watch and Bluetooth hands free. This watch has another feature that might be very useful for people who like listening to the music. It can control the multimedia on your cell phone. This gadget watch has some buttons for multimedia control and you can use it as a remote control.

SmartFaucet from iHouse

iHouse presents a new gadget along its cell phone controlled bathtub that prepares an excellent bath with an only one phone call – SmartFaucet - which is one of those devices that are necessary, but the word “smart” makes it different from the ordinary faucets.
The SmartFaucet by iHouse is highly convenient due to its characteristics: it has a face recognition technology. The essence of this technology is the following: the camera recognizes you and the faucet remembers different temperature settings for each member of your family and automatically adjusts the temperature of the water to the preferred level. The water is heated with a built-in internal heating coil, and, moreover, there are LEDs which change the color of the water from blue to red to show its temperature.
Additionally, a completely new feature, the users will have the access to their e-mail. There is a touchscreen display on the faucet which enables you to check your calendar, e-mail and the outside temperature.

Holograms

“Introducing, the new (2050) iPhone, with integrated, hologram, voice call.” Can you imagine this by 2050, or perhaps sooner? For many of us who watched the “Obama/McCain,” US election on CNN, we might of noticed a hologram of a female reporter. However, this used a few cameras on a 360 degree axis, and one very large “green screen,” to create the illusion. Nevertheless, it has created some media in the process, and now questions remain…when will we see, and use holograms?

Teleportation

Ever heard of Quantum Teleportation? Now this is in progress at present and consists of transporting one entity to another geographical location. This may seem impossible but scientific research has found this is quite conceivable indeed. Okay, all you need to get started is a “Transporter!” This could be anything, from a mobile handset to a complete array of electronic plates and a lot of Duracell batteries. However, silly as it might sound it has surpassed notion and is soon to be in development. So let’s all hope in 2050 teleportation could be made public! On the failier of the big “Red Phone Box.” Blue phone boxes might take their place, in the form of a Dardis.

Computers???

Comp…What? That’s right, by 2050, computers will no longer be called “computers”, it will have a new name, which would have already served its purpose. We predict that by 2050, computers will evolved enough that they will be monitoring themselves to find a new product, and we will be sitting back, relaxing and waiting until it does. However, Windows will no longer be call “Windows,” instead it will be called, “force field” because let’s face it, we have all this new technology, that we don’t need glass, Upvc windows any more. We can just deactivate a force field, whenever we want to let a little air in.

We predict that, keyboards will be a thing of the past, and we would use “touch screen,” and with many of us with larger roles in IT, will be using Minority Report style gloves to control programmes.

The Flying Car

Since Moller released its “SkyCar M400X,” in 2003, it has failed to succeed. But this has only opened the door to new technology! Currently, there exists various patented, “Flying Cars”, but, again have failed to “take off”. But on a serious note – we have unearthed and have estimated that by 2050 no current car will be drivable! Now this might be because of the “Carbon Emissions,” law, which might rule out every gas powered vehicle. So move over gas, and welcome “Electric” power. Okay its hardly new, but we have listed an electric car that will give the Dodge Spider a run for its money!

Stop drooling…It’s called the Mazda Kaan, and it is “electric,” but do you want to know the best bit? It can drive up to mega top speeds of 250mph and it is soon appearing in the E1 – the Formula One of electric cars. In case you were wondering what those orange rims are…yep…you’ve guessed it – they’re wheels! So innovation in the making, it won’t be long until this thing will be able to fly.

Apple’s iTouch Tablet

Apple is readying a tablet-sized iTouch for release sometime this year. With Macworld right around the corner, now’s about the time we’d expect leaks of such potential announcements to surface. If Apple really is readying an iTouch tablet device, you better put money on the fact that it will be the hottest gadget of ‘09.

Very little is certain about this new mystery tablet now under lock and key in Cupertino. What we do know is that the gadget will probably have a 7- or 9-inch touchscreen, similar to that of the iTouch or iPhone, and will function similar to the iTouch. The memory will be flash-based, it will be equipped with Wi-Fi, and will be designed to take advantage of the accelerometer with the games and applications available on Apple’s Apps Store.

The tablet will have an iSight along with multi-touch capabilities, and will retain a form factor very much like an overgrown iTouch or iPhone. But there is one element that will not be shared with the iPhone or the iTouch. If Apple is to succeed with an iTablet , the operating system can’t be that of the iPhone or the iTouch…or of the computer-based OSX. The iTablet will need a hybrid graphical user interface that wields multi-touch, with the complexity and power of OSX but simplicity of the handheld version.

If Apple really has such a device in the works, you can expect to see another craze like that of the iPod and the iPhone. Imagine the possibilities! Though Apple tried to use the Macbook Air as an ultra-portable, the iTablet would effectively bridge the gap between the iPhone, Ipod and Macs. Aside from going for a jog or hitting the gym, the iTablet would be the ideal size for any Apple app, providing a comfortable amount of space for a qwerty keyboard, while having a small form factor for games and entertainment. The iTablet would be the “perfect storm” of the computing/entertainment gadget world — a hybrid between iPods and Macs. And with a gaggle of software developers constantly contributing to the Apps Store, Apple now has the ideal market for such a device that it has been waiting for.

With the turn of the 21st century more and more technologies have been created and it seems that they get more complicated, all these new gadgets and materials that are “space age”. But it is sometimes the simpler designed gadgets that are the best. For example the new Mp3 sunglasses that have been released are ingenious.

The sunglasses also feature frameless orange lenses that bring it that “cool” look they also are shatter proof that allows them not to smash or crack when dropped by accident.

The lenses also give 100% protection from ultra violet light made by the sun so there is no danger while wearing them in really sunny conditions. The best bit about these glasses though is the ability to play your best music through MP3 form. You can be relaxing in the sun on the beach or skiing down a mountain these sunglasses will deliver your favourite tunes wherever.
It has a 128 MB memory so there is enough room to fit plenty of your best music on there and the set comes with its own USB device that allows you to put the music from your computer straight to the sunglasses. It is compatible with both a windows PC and a Mac computer. Its charge lasts 8.5 hours so you can listen to your tunes for literally the whole day without being interrupted.

This is a great little gadget for anyone who likes to listen to their music while on the move and it is at last a reason to wear your sunglasses even if the sun is not shining, and the best bit about this is unlike an IPod or standard CD player no wires are required which means there is no wires dangling around getting in your way or distracting you.
